Yolhan Mannes

Doctor of Applied Mathematics

Welcome to my portfolio

About

I am Yolhan Mannes, PhD in applied mathematics, specialized in the numerical simulation of models for blood circulation. I defended my thesis in applied mathematics on November 7, 2024 at the University of Toulon, under the co-supervision of Mehmet Ersoy (Professor at the University of Toulon) and Omer Eker (Professor at the University Claude Bernard Lyon 1 and neurosurgeon at the Hospices Civils de Lyon).

My research, carried out within the IMATH laboratory (Institut Mathématique de Toulon), focused on the derivation and mathematical and numerical analysis of reduced models for blood circulation in arteries, with a particular interest in the application of innovative numerical methods, in particular the Discontinuous Galerkin methods.

At the same time, I taught mathematics to undergraduate students and engineering schools, which allowed me to develop and enrich my teaching skills. This portfolio highlights my scientific contributions, my academic background and my teaching experience, illustrating my commitment to the interdisciplinarity between applied research and pedagogy.

I have developed expertise in applied mathematics and blood flow simulation, specializing in arterial circulation models and the analysis of cardiovascular pathologies such as aneurysms and stenoses.

My knowledge of Navier-Stokes equations, asymptotic analysis and numerical simulation techniques allows me to study the impact of physical and geometric parameters on blood flow dynamics.

At the same time, I have also acquired expertise in machine learning for the integration of complex functions, and more broadly in the fields of artificial intelligence and data processing.

Curious and open to interdisciplinarity, my research work and the discussions held during my thesis allowed me to collaborate with Camille Poussel and Frédéric Golay in the development of Discontinuous Galerkin (DG) methods, thus enriching my skills and broadening my field of research.
